My friend said he bought some street racing tires. He basically said its like slicks when u burn rubber but has grooves to keep u stable on the street when not racing. Was he lying, and if not wats a good brand of tires? I have a 1990 gt.
Any street tire has to have grooves in it. They wouldn't be D.O.T. approved if they didn't. I've got a set of Kuhmo Ecsta's on my GT and they are great. Falken makes a pretty good tire too. Just make sure you read some reviews before you buy anything and make sure that it fits with what you want to use them for. Getting the wrong tire can really ruin your day when it comes to race time.

yep he is right...i would def. agree with the m/t et streets..there great tires!! kinda expensive.....the nittos are good..but not amazing...
These tires are all great for going straight. Problem with street driving is you have to turn every once in a while. Do your homework, buy tires made for all around street driving and save the pseudo slicks for the track. This also means no skinnies up front. I laugh when I see guys slowing to 5 mph just make a turn. I once saw a guy rip them right off the rims, I nearly peed myself laughing.

Thats why I suggested the Kuhmo's and the Falken's. They are great on the street and have enough grip to get you off the line in a hurry. My friend had the skinnies up front on his Camaro SS and the big Mickey Thompson's in the back. That thing wwas ridiculous everywhere but the track. If you plan on driving it every day I recommend staying away from those...
