Default 18x10 tires worth it?

Ok, I have enough $$$ to get the wheels I have been wanting since the idea of having a mustang came into my head. Problem is, I do not have enough money to pay 140$ a tire and am not totally sure I want to pay that much ever. Maybe I am just ignorant on the subject of tires. Anyway, my point is, tires are much harder to find and seem more pricey when you go with the 18x10 on the rear instead of the 18x9 for all 4. What do you guys think? Is the look of it good enough to outweigh the price difference? Does anyone have any pics?

Thumbs up

No I don't think it's worth it for 1" and it would only look slightly better, the 9's are fine I have them all the way around on my SN95 and it looks great!

Andrew... The look isn't really the biggest selling point of a 10 wheel, the fact of the matter is, the bigger the wheel, the wider of a profile tire you put on, and therefore the more contact patch the tire can have. It kind of boils down to what kind of power to the pavement needs do you expect to have, with a n/a 4.0, 18/9 will support a fairly wide tire, and meet your needs, if you supercharge, the 10's will be a plus. But your gonna pay. I paid 204 each for my eagle f1's for my 18's

I think I just need to save an extra month I hate waiting for things like this. I should just be happy with my latest mod!
I will probably go with 4 of the 18x9's with the tires so I can get the free mounting and balancing. Most places will charge 20$ a tire!

Hate to burst your bubble but $140 a tire is a little cheap when you are talking about performance tires. To make things worse performance tires wear much faster than your typical daily driver tire. That's the price of performance!

haha I meant 240$ as opposed to 147$. I do understand though now makes me sad. I posted the right link but compared it to the wrong price of tire.

im facing the same problem with bigger rims tires are starting at 140 each and every time you replace your bald tires its going to be 140 for each tire so im still undecided

Try to look around on craigslist, lots of guys take off perfectly good wheels and tires to go bigger, and you can buy them for a swansong. I have seen SVT wheels/tire combos go for as low as $650 with less than 10k miles on them. If you keep your eye out, you can find some killer deals. I picked up a set of GT takeoffs from a guy that had 12k miles on them (the 17 inch wheels) for $250 and they were in PERFECT shape, no curbs or anything. (my winter wheels cuz the 18's are to big to get ANY traction in snow)
