the ride is harsher, very noticable but we have very rough roads here. i'm getting the tokico d-specs so i'll let u know how they turn out. and performance is affected too.
ive got twenty inch rims on my car and ya the ride is a bit harsher but not that bad. people make it seem like its going from nitto's to bfg mud tires. its not like that at all. you just feel the bumps more but with a lowered car you already do and 20" rims on a car dont look like crap this is what my car looks like with 20" rims running yokohama s drive's

i have 20" shelby torque thrusts with a eibach pro sysrem plus set-up .i didnt notice much difference in the ride over my 17s because stiff suspension and handles the corners like a road race car

20 " rims on a mustang look like crap............................
Now that statement is just wrong. I understand YOU may not like 20" wheels on a Mustang and even appreciate your opinion, but to say they simply look like crap is just YOUR opinion and is incorrect. Many people like 20" wheels on their Mustang, hence why they are so popular. Just check any car show, the Stangs with 20" wheels win more times than not....including mine!
Now, to the orignal poster, yes, 20" rims will make the ride a bit rougher, especially if you are lowered. The consensus is that you use 20" to show and 18" to go. You do loose performance due to most of the time, the 20" wheels are heavier and you have less side walls than stock.
Since I have 20" wheels and am lowered, I did upgraded my suspension (new shocks/struts, etc), and my car corners better than stock. Now should I go to the track I would consider putting on a set of 17" or 18" wheels/tires, even though my 20" wheels are lighter than many 18" wheels, for mine are high end lightweight wheels.
Economically, 20" tire sets will cost nearly double or triple 17"s and have a lifespan 25%-30% that of 17"s.
in my opinion the larger bling'd rims also are a little "loud" and distract from the actual body of the car. I like the eyes to focus around mid-level and not the ground
This debate could go on forever. If you like smaller wheels and like putting on a pair of balloons on so be it.If you like the rubber band twenties who cares. There have never been any rules when it comes to hot rodding, modding or customizing your favorite ride. Have an open mind and think outside the box. I've gone from old school to new school and like the diversity of it all.

Uhhhh....to each he own, then why so negative? I personally think a 17/18" rim wrapped in a ballon tire looks like it belongs on a truck. But im not gonna be disrespectful of someones personal taste by just sayin straight up "hey, that looks like crap" Have some common courtesy and just state ur opinion in a respectful manner.
