Default wheel lip repair

my brothers car, (not his mustang but i was already a member so i figured i would try here first. not to mention i believe this info could help anyone) has 20s on it and has a little bit of "curb burn" or whatever its called on the lip. i was wondering if there was any way to remedy this or make it less visible or at least stop it from rusting. thanks

This can be professionally repaired, but will cost a good bit. There is a company here in Atlanta called Metro Wheel who does this, and their fees start at about $100.

If the wheel is just polished or coated aluminum, you can scuff it down with sandpaper (the injured spot) and polish it (takes some elbow grease) back to looking better, if not the same as new. If its chrome, there's not much you can do.

If its steel it WILL rust, and scuffing it down and applying a touchup paint will help.

i am fine with putting in the time to make it look right. i believe it to be aluminum but cant be sure yet. i will have to get back to you on that. but if i cannot fix it myself, do you know of anyone in the dayton area that will repair wheels?

I just curb checked one of my new 20's last weekend , but now it's bearly noticable after I cleaned it up with a rollock disc and a small buffing wheel on a die grinder. You can get a cheap die grinder and some rollock discs and buffing wheels from harbor frieght for under fifty bucks and save yourself a lot of elbow grease.
