Default 18" Wheel and tire questions

I plan on buying a set of 18" Konig beyonds. I know i want to have all the same tire size, but would 9.5's fit up front? And would that give me a bit better traction than the 8.5's? And how would i get that staggered look if i have all the same tire size? I LOVE the look of huge tires in the back, but i want to be able to rotate them so my tires last longer.

Also, what size tires would be best for both the 8.5 and 9.5?

Thanks for the help!

With the correct backspacing, the 9.5's will work all around. The GT500 wheels are 9.5. You can run a 255/45 to a 275/40 all the way around. I have the GT500 sizes, 255/45-18 front and 285/40-18 rear. I understand that you night need a steering stop mod if you go from 17's to 18's.

That's my set-up too, I just put them on today...It looks awesome...But are you sure you need steering stops when you go from 17" to 18"? I just put the wheels on and everything's fine so far...

I have 18"x9.5" fronts with 275's and don't have any rubbing and don't have steer stops.

You should check with whatever tire maker you will be going with and check to see what they recommend as far as rim width goes. Some 275's are designed for 9.5" rims, some are not. And there are very few tires that are 285mm wide which are recommended for a 9.5" rim.

Putting a tire on that is wider than the rim it is spec'd out for will not only screw up how the sidewalls perform, which will screw up cornering performance in most cases the "too wide" tire will have less traction in a straight line too.

And in my opinion tires that are too wide for their rims look stupid because the sidewall gets pinched in to fit on the rim. Every time I see a car set up like that I automatically think the owner of that car is an idiot.

If you want the staggered look get some spacers for the rear wheels. Maximum Motorsports has them.

I heard that the rear wheel spacers can mess something up back there if they become loose or aren't tightened enough, is this true?

I will contact konig about tire fitment, but 275/40/18 would probably be my best fit for handling and looks?

Everything will get messed up if not tightened enough The only problem that you could run into with spacers is to get some so thick that your lug nuts would not engage the studs far enough. You probably won't be looking for spacers even close to that thick though.

No, you contact the tire manufacturer to see what rim width that they have spec'd out for the size tire you are getting.

Step one- Pick your tires
Step two- Pick rims that fall within the tires specifications. These specs may be different from (tire) manufacturer to manufacturer.

Okay, i gotcha.

Im definatly going for Nitto NT555's as far as tires go. About what size wheel spacer should i go for? Should i buy my wheels first and see what would look best?
