Default Will 255's work on a 9.5" rim?

Hi -

Looking to put the same size tires (255/35/20) on both the front & backs. Currently, I have 8.5" rims on the front and 9.5" on the back. Just wanted to get anyone's thoughts whether 255's will fit nice on a 9.5" rim? Also, not too sure how this will look with the staggered setup??? I use my car as a daily driver, and looking for all-season tires, which I can't seem to find if I go any bigger than 255's.

255 will definitely fit on a 9.5 and look good. The tires will look wider on the back because the extra inch on the rim width will stretch the rubber out. It will also have a lower profile because the sidewall will be shorter from the tire being stretched. If you have two different size rims, why not go with two different size tires? You arent going to be rotating are you? If you are set on keeping the 255, I woud recommend going to a 40 or 45 series on the rear to correct the tire height difference that will be caused from the different rim size.

no - won't be able to rotate, so you have a good point there. as for the different rim sizes, they came with the car when I got it, and I never changed them. was looking for 255s all around because of the all-season factor, unfortunately you look bigger can't see to find any which are all-season.

Nothin wrong with the different rim sizes... I kinda like it. I run 245/45/17 on front 8.5 rim and 275/40/17 on rear 8.5 rim... I drive mine daily and have no problems with wet or dry traction... I think you may be putting a little too much thought into the all season thing...no offense. I think the mainstream tire manufacturers are more into performance oriented tires when you get to the specific size you are looking at, but if you are not set on a big $ brand... Give Maxxis tires a try.. I am running them and they perform very well for me, even reduced wheel hop and they are considerably cheaper than some of the others. I get great wear and they have a nice agressive footprint! Just something to ponder... Good luck
