Default tires and wheel adapter 2007 to 1966 Mustang

I am attempting to put 2007 17" bullet wheel with 235/55/17 tires on a 1966 mustang, I have order 1.5" adapters. Has anyone else attempted this or know what it takes to make it work if it is possible at all?
