A 17x9 rim can accomodate a P245/45R17 or P275/40R17 Nitto Drag Radial with no problems! I know people who have gone bigger then that, but by Nitto's fitness guide, these are what they say are o.k.!

they will fit perfectly. i've seen 245 all the way up to a 275, which is pretty big. looks awesome in back though. im currently running 255/40/17's on my cobra R wheels. in spring i might go 245/45 in front and 275/40 in back

I have 17 X 9's on my 1990 convertible. Tires are 235/45/17.

Wheels rub on the inside against the control arm, but the tires are okay - they don't hit the fenders or anything.

I heard from 91 - 93 on the Fox bodies, they increased the space in the wheel well to accomodate the 16" wheel.

I don't know what year your car is, but if your 94 or up - you should be fine, 'cause 245/45/17 are the stock size.

I know this is an old post but...

Was your '89 lowered? I have a 91 vert with 245/45/17 on Cobra R 17 x 9 and it has been lowered with Eibach springs. The only problem I have is on the front driverside where the tire rubs the fender at the top on some bumps. I am considering replacing with same style rim but 17x8 and same tire.

Thanks,
Mike
