Default Slicks for 1989 Mustang GT. What size for 8" turbine wheels?

i have a 89 gt 5.0 fuel injected. with a t-5 trans.with some other mods all so. i am running 13.38-1/4 mile with a 1.90-60 foot time on 4 year old cooper cobra tires. i am looking to up grade to some et drag radails or slicks but am haveing a hard time finding out what will clear the wheel wells with out brakeing the bank. i crossed the tire size in a book and it say a 28x8.5r15 is the same size as the factory tire for that year has anyone ran this tire size with the gt ground effects and quad shock if so does it clear.
thanks for looking and replying

I'm running 28-11.50-15 ET streets. In straight line, they are fine. Running on the street they rub sometimes when i turn into a parking or something. When i buy my next set they will be 28-10.50-15. Good luck.

sweat thx, i'm trying a smaller street tire but will end up with something like that i got my street tires from a sponcer cheap so going to try them frist. thanks for the info

well tried the bf goodwrench ta drag radial did not like the performace of them at the track i thought they should have had better tracstion i tried them 3 diffrent times at many diffrent temps.. and pressures.. but over all disapionted going on to the MT drag radial. the best tire i have ran is the Mccroy dirt race tire roundy round car tires. but if ran below 15 psi gets really squirely at the end of track almost had to change my pants after that run. got my best time with those tires so far. keep you posted not many threads on here about tires and its one of the most important things???????got any qustions post them i try to answer them and if you got any pointers i open to try most thing if its not crazy stupid.
