Well heres the story. Friend of mine buys a 93 from from some guy in Texas. The guy has a set of ponys with new tires on at the time. My friends drives the car from Texas to here in Jersey. He offered to sell me the tires and rims because he got himself a new set of rims.
So heres the part i was hoping someone could enlighten me on. He brings the tires over for me to take a look at. the 2 back tires are fine.but on both front tires from the inside sidewall to about 3 inches inward, the treads are worn to hell, but the rest of the tire looks new. He has no idea what caused it. Either way i took the set because he sold em to me for less then the new ponies would have cost me. But now i need new tires.
So i got to thinking. The back tires are 245/50's and the worn out front tires are 245/45's. Im wondering if the simple issue was that the 245s on the front were too wide? I remember reading in some mustang magazine that they made some sorta change to the front hubs from 91 and up. And his
stang is a 93. SO could it be that the tires were rubbing during the whole trip up here?
Either way, im sticking with 245's for the rear, but i was going to ask what a good recommendation would be for the front of my 89? Would a set of 245/45s be ok for my year? Or should i go with something a little smaller like a 235 or 225? If anyone has any insight for me, please lemme know. Thanks!
