wouldn't those hang like 4 inches outside of the tire well? i was thinking of going that big if it looked half way decent have you ever seen those on an 05?

MH 325 50 17 would be your best bet with that auto
I know 315s just fit but for the strip, you aren't really worried about if they fit inside the car, you just don't want to cut them with the body, when you launch.
The M&H 325/45/17's will fit fine on a 17X9 wheel with +36mm offset minimum. I run these tires on the street and the track and they work good. On my 295/45/18 nittos I completely spin through 1st,2nd, and into 3rd. With the M&H's, only half way through first.

+1 to what Paul said. I'm running the M&H 325/45-17's on my 17x9 Bullitts (+45mm offset) for street use only. They are 28" dia and about 10.3" wide, so they are about the same size as a 265/50-17. They tuck well under the fender, and hook a lot better than my Nittos ever did.
On the track, I run 15x9 Weld XPs, 5.5" bs, with M/T 28x10.50-15 slicks. They do stick out slightly, but not too bad.
