Widest best gripping rear tire that will fit my 2004 SVT Cobra?
I own a 2004 SVT Cobra with 600 hp at the block and 475 to rear. I want to know what is a good tire for road grip and the widest tire I can put on the rear. I have looked at tiretrack.com
I like the BFGoodrich g-force T/A KDW's. A very strong grippy solid tire! Are you going to be doing any rain driving? 600hp is a lot to keep on the ground, you might want to consider a pair of drag radials. I would look into the same kinds of tires the put on all the big horespower cars, like vipers, ferraris, lambos, mercedes, etc... Most of the go BFGoodrich, Michelin, or Pirelli. Those are the three that I trust and like.
As far as size goes... Im not sure. Its because you have the IRS. I had a 285/35/18 on my cobra with the IRS before I got rid of it. & I never rubbed. I have 295/35's on my Mach 1 now, but I have a sold rear axle. I just dont know for sure what the biggest size you can put back there is. I guess youll have to ask the cobra guys. I know for the solid rear guys here we can go all the way to 315 no rubbing problems. I hope I helped a little.

THe KDW's are the ones I have on now. They are pretty good for grip, but with your power, you might want to try the BF Goodrich KD's or the DR's.
My buddy and I both just picked up 17x10.5s for the rear along with some 315/35/17s mickey thompson drag radials. Very nice tires, they look mean as hell and they grip great even on the street. Only thing is because of the soft compound there going to wear pretty quick, also your not going to want to be driving around in the rain with them on.
If you plan to get a drag radial from what ive gathered it seems the 3 best options are:
Nittos: Best for daily driving, they will last the longest, worst overall grip
Bf's: This fall inbetween, decent tread life, ok for driving, good grip but not as good as the mickeys
Mickeys: There gonna wear the quickest, shouldnt be used in the rain, but the best overall grip
theres a trick u can do to stick 335s up in there i forgot how to do it i think stick a bbbat between the tired and the 1/4 pannel and move the car up slowly and slide the bat around so it will curve up the lil lip on the edge so u can fit wider tires on there... personally i like nitto 555r drag radials
