Will I be able to put the 10 hole 15 inch wheels from the fox body Mustangs on my II without any mods? The tire size is 235/60 R15.
I saw that people were putting 17's, but they had to bend the fenders.
Any advice?
Thanks!
I did find this on an enthusiest site:
"This was sent to me directly and I think it is helpfull and worth
repeating. If anyone needs any conversions to sheck fits email me and I
can run them for ya.
Well, a 14 X 7 in std rear drive offset (4 3/8 I think) will work fine.
Any decent wheel manufacterer is going to have a std rear drive offset
wheel in 4 on 4.25 bolt pattern. The wheels on my Handler were
Centerlines and they were 14 X 7 with 4 3/8.
As for tire sizes here is a breakdown for you to save.
13 X 5.5 on 195/70 13 = 23.92" unloaded diam
14 X 7 on 205/60 14 = 23.84"
15 X 7 on 205/55 15 = 24.02"
16 X 7 on 205/50 16 = 24.20"
17 X 7 on 205/45 17 = 24.38"
18 X 7 on 205/40 18 = 24.56"
Max tire size in stock wheel wells:
14" Front 215/60 14
14" Rear 235/60 14
(On a std rear drive offset)
15" Front 205/60 15
(Curently in the King Cobra on 10- holes)
15" Rear 235/60 15
(both rub very slightly)
16" Front 205/55 16
16'" Rear 235/55 16
These are my guidelines. Wheel offset/Backspacing will change these
slightly. The three sizes sets above have been on my cars at different
tiems for at least a year each.
now realize these are UNLOADED diameters. and cannot be used for
revlutions per mile calculations for speedo correction.
but if you look at the #'s you will see a max gain of only .65 of an
inch or a little over 1/4 inch above and below the rim. Also because the
diam is the same the only concern becomes back spacing for chassis
clearence.
Example The late model 10-hole phone dial Mustang LX wheel is double
the offset (20 mm versus 10mm MII) and therefore requires a 1/2 inch
spacer to clear the suspension and caliper not the wheel well. Any late
model Mustang wheel can be used easily wth a GOOD bolt on wheel spacer
of 1/2" or 15mm thickness.
Hope this helps

Is there any truth to it?
