I've been through this before but I'm finally pulling the trigger. I want to order them in a day or two and I have "fun" money saved up so I don't have to feel guilty about the purchase
I deliberated on sizes and widths before but I have it down to two packages that I'm putting together.
Option 1 - 18x9 all around in Chrome Bulletts wrapped in 265/35/18 Sumitomo's
Option 2 - 18x10 rear with 285/35s and 18x9 front with 265/35s... Black DD Bulletts with chrome lips.
Any thoughts how either of these two would look on on my 96GT ragtop? The chrome runs about $70 more total so it's basically the same cost for either package.
Please help me decide (I know it's my decision) as I'm kind of torn and don't know what would look best.
I also know I could be spending this on speed parts but honestly I'm sick of rolling on the stock 96GT 16 inch rims.
Thanks All!

depends, whats the color of you mustang??? but yes, wider is better by all means = more contact area b/t tyre and ground = more traction = less loss of power

Thanks for the input so far guys...
It's Laser Red. I can go staggered in the chrome as well with the 18x10. I just don't know if I prefer the chrome or the black with the machined lip.
I hate decisions!

Well I just bought my DD Bullitts. Theyre the black ones with chrome lips. I have the 18x9 and 18x10s. I think theyre gonna look really good on my stang when I put them on. However, I just saw a mustang the other day with the chrome ones and they looked real good on it. I think the black ones would go with the red on your car.
Cobraboy - those FR500's look awesome on your Cobra.
I think I'm leaning towards the black with the machined lip because I agree that it will go with the red nicely. I love the chrome but they might be a bit much for the rest of the car.
I would stick with 17s but after having the 16s for so long and then getting 18's on my 06 I think they'll fill the well a bit better than 17's. I can't really drop the car because of the sidepipes so maybe this will help in the "look" of a dropped ride.
I appreciate all the info... I'll probably order on Saturday and then post pics after I get some garage time and get them on. I'm going through www.americanmuscle.com as they have pretty darn good prices.

and yeah american muscle is pretty competitive as far as wheel pricing goes. free shipping and free mount and balance... not a bad deal. i got my whole wheel/tire setup from them for a little over 1k.. not bad. and the 18's will look good on your car i think. so you are getting the bullit wheels for sure?
you know what else would look good are the black cobra R wheels.. just a thought
I've alway thought Bullitts looked out of place on sn-95's, but if I was gonna do it, I'd go with black. The wider the better!
lies, all lies i tell you!!!!! i always thought the bullitt rims looked like they were made for the sn95, which is why i bought them for my car a long time ago. too bad they dont fit with the brakes i bought or else i would still have them, just take a look below...
and my personal choice would be to go with 17" rims rather than 18", i dont really like the way the stock brakes look behind anything above 17" (stock gt brakes, especially 96-98), and i would go with the black/polished lip just because those have always looked good, but a little played out. that color scheme does look good on cobraboys cobra tho
EDIT: i would, however, look at a different style rim. i dont think chrome or black/silver lip would look too good on a red car tho, but thats just my choice. maybe go with a silver powdercoated rim? (95 cobra R, 00 cobra R, saleen, 98 Cobra, etc)

The best Mom-lady I could have ever asked for
Im going to clean mine up real nice when I get off work and post a picture. Make sure you get good tires to match up with it
That would be cool.
I'm going with the Sumitomo HRT IIs. I like the tread pattern and I've heard good things about them.
Cobraboy - I've thought of the Cobra style rims and black would be cool. I really like your FR500's but I've just had my eye on the bullet style ever since the original Torque Thrust styles from AR. I'll have to think long and hard but I'm still leaning towards the bullett style in the 18's.
