Default Tire numbers, side exhaust, and body kits

Question one. my stock tires are 245-45/17. what do the numbers mean. i know that the 17 is the diamater of the rim. what are the other numbers?

Question two. I am looking at getting a roush body kit and need the side exhaust. does flowmaster or SLP make side exhaust? Also, is that considered cat back, or is it called something different?

Thanks.

245 is the tread width... 45 refers to the percentage that is sidewall.. and i think its measured in milimeters??? pretty sure..

and i think rousch sells a catback system that is already setup to bolt on to your car as long a you have the side skirts. other than that im not sure about anybody else making a muffler specifically designed for that besides borla.

side exhaust kits typically make you lose a little bit of power though.. just something to think about if you are concerned with that.

It is millimeters... 245mm wide and the 45 is percentage of the width which is how tall the sidewall to the wheel is.

Cobraboy is right but I'll add that if there's any power loss it is very minimal. There's bound to be a bit more turbulence as the pipes have sharper curves in and out of the muffler but not anything that you'd notice. I doubt you'd lose race because of them all things being equal.

I have the Borla sidepipes on my 96Gt and love them. I thought Magnaflow had a set as well but I could be wrong.

steeda makes a side exhaust kit that they claim has no power loss, its a bit pricey tho.
