Default 2007 Mustang Gt, Help With Tire Sizes

I just ordered some new wheels for the Stang (18x10 rear & 18x9 front) and have a question on what size of tires I can use. The car has not been lowered. I am old school & want some sidewall so 35 series is out of the question. I am leaning towards 295/45/18 on the rear and want a tire with a similar height on the front so I don't increase the rake from back to front. A 255/55/18 is a bit higher than the back but might be a good fit. Any assistance with what you guys are running and what size a tire I can put on the front without having any clearance or rubbing issues would be greatly appreciated.

A 295-45-18 is a lot taller (28.45") than stock (27.18"). To keep roughly the same ride height you'd need a 255-50-18 (28.04") in front.

An easy way to figure this out is once you decide on the brand and tire model that you like, look it up on the manufacturers website. They should have a document (usually pdf) that lists all of the tire sizes and measurements. The one you're looking for is the "OD" or Overall Diameter. Make sure that the front and rear are as close as possible.

Here is an example...I have Toyo Proxes 4's click here: http://www.toyo.com/docs/tires/tires...ategory=luxury

See the link that says "get the sizes and tech specs"...that's what you're looking for.

Hope that helps

What are the offsets of your wheels.I run a 295/45/18 on DD 18x10 w/45mm offset and the clearance is excellent on the rear and no tire rub.Front's..255/45/18's on 18x9's w/34mm offset and the clearance is good there too.I probably should have gone with 265's up front so the rake wouldn't have been as drastic. But I'm happy for now,265's later. The car is lowered with Steeda Sports.Only The taller tire picked the rear end back up.One step forward ,two steps back

The offset on my rims are exactly the same as yours. I take it you have no problem with the front tires rubbing. The 295/45/18 have a diameter of 28.45 while the 255/55/18 are 29.04. That will actually reduce my rake but I want to make sure a front tire that large will work with no issues. A 265/50/18 has a diameter of 28.43 which would be perfect but according to Tire Rack, there are no tires matching that size

No problems at all with the fronts either.

Are the off sets the same on the stock wheels? They should be so you can rotate them like Ford says to. How do you figure out what offset to use with what size tires?

Ford says a lot of stuff, most of it all good. The offsets on most aftermarket wheels are not stock specs.I don't plan on rotating 18x10's that are on the rear to front, the wheels will not fit.Gee, I wonder if they can rotate wheels on an 07'GT 500.

Im running 285/45/18's R and 255/40/18's F Nitto 555's on 18x10DD R and 18x9F 45mm offset for the 05's No rubbing, looks perfect. I think these are the same specs that's on the GT500. I love the stagared look of the DD in the rear and small lip on the front. Here is a pic.

I like the look on the rims. Whole car looks sweet. I am also hoping to fill the rear wheel well a little more by going with a higher tire.

Did you have any problems with the steering stops, or the front tires rubbing when you turn the wheel all the way to either side?

No problems at all.The fit is excellent. This application has been a constant upgrade on many S197's.

Hi POCO,

Geos05gtvert's wheels are not the same high quality AAR TT-M wheels you have they are inexpensive knock-offs.

HTH!

Hi POCO,

My forged Roush 18x10's with 275/40x18 BFG g-Force KD's mounted fit just fine front and rear. No problems rotating or rubbing at full lock. On the right skidpad my car can pull over 1 G.

HTH!
