Default 1967 Mustang With Foose Nitrous II

Hi all from the land down under

I am intending to buy a set of Foose Nitrous II's for my 67 coupe and need some advice on the offsets, etc, for the build sheet; as you can appreciate it's hard to get advice on Foose wheels here in Aus.

The wheel sizes I am looking at are: front 18x8 with 18x9 on the rear.
Tires, front 225xx45x18 or 235…. With 275x45x18 on the rear.

The questions,
a: will these combinations work without body mods
and
b: what offsets would I need to use when ordering the wheels.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Many Thanks,

Steve

I'll tell you what I have on my 67, maybe you can reference what I use. On the front I am running a 225/50-15 with a 4 1/2 inch back spacing. I am using 620 lb. coil springs, so the ride height is lowered by about 1 inch. I have no tire rub and the top of the fender well is 1 inch above the tire. A 1 inch taller tire would probably fit with the fender lip rolled using the 4 1/2 in back space. and, I forgot to mention, 8 in dia. wheel.

On the back, again I am using a 15 in X 8 in wheel with 4 1/2 in back space. 245/60-15 tires. Had to roll the fender lip at the top and the tire is sitting even with the top of the wheel well. For the rear ride height I have 1 in lowering blocks and standard eye 5 leaf leaf springs. This gives the car, using the above, a slight rake, lower in front.

There are a couple of places in the inner rear wheel well to be aware of. The inner well at the about the 10 o'clock position, looking straight on (driver's side,US), 2 o'clock (passanger side,US) and the rear axle bumper/bracket. I have seen in magazines where some guys are using the 275/60 series supposedly without any clearance mods, if they did the backspacing was well over 4 1/2 inches on an 8 in wheel.

I think Mustangs Plus's web site may have a chart broken down by model years for max. tire size, Welcome to Mustangs Plus on the Web!* Your Mustang Parts Source! . They're big into restomod Mustangs.

I hope some of this ranting was of benefit to you. ---Chuck

PS, welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the welcome and the information about your tyre combo Chuck,

I had a good look around inside the rear wheel wells and noticed that there were a couple of obstacles which is one of the reasons I'm asking around to find out what others have been able to achieve.

I just had a good look around Mustang Plus’ website but unfortunately could not find the chart anywhere L

Once again thanks for the help,

Steve

Steve, I found what I think is one of the best charts I've ever seen. It is comprised of stock and restomod suspension info and, of course, tire/wheel fitment for the years 1965-1973. It is called "Modified Mustang Comprehensive Tire & Wheel Charts" http://www.dodgestang.com/mustang

I hope this helps. ---Chuck

Hey Steve

Its probably a bit late late but just incase you havent brought the wheels and you are still wondering if they fit.... On my 1967 I run foose Nitrous 18x10 (18x45x285) on the back and 18x8 (18x25x235) on the front and they work fine. I also run after market adjustable suspension to get the ride a bit lower as well.

Hope that helps.

Hi Parson,

thanks for the info. I have not purchased the wheels yet as I have had a issue with locating the $$ needed (other expenses got in the way).

are you able to provide any info on the offsets that you used to allow for that rubber ??

Thank again,

Steve
