Exclamation 18" wheels off a 2005+ Mustang GT on my v6 Mustang

I'm in the process of buying 18" wheels from someone that had them one their GT, Anything I should worry about or any reasons why they will not work? I called SVT about their 18" billet rims and they said none of their wheels will fit the v6, but other people tell me there is no difference. Can anyone clarify for me?

Hi and welcome to AFM!
I have GT and a my wife has a pony package car. I put the 18" bullits off my GT onto her V-6 and the rear was fine. the front is fine except that the calipers will rub the spokes of the rim when you turn the car hard but after a while it will stop. its not bad ...just enough to rub. here is a pic with the wheel swap. looks alot better!

Wonder why it rubs... The caliper is smaller.

I'm not sure this is relevant, but when you look at the FRPP catalog about 17 and 18-inch wheels they specify a turning lock limiter, with part numbers, when using larger wheels on cars originally supplied with 16-inch wheels.

I'm beginning to learn about what the limiter is: washers that go on the steering link inside the rack boot. Still not ready to snip the clips off my boots to install a 1/4" thick (approx) nylon "washer" that doesn't seem to be necessary, after running Gt Bullitts on my V6 since January, with no known or at least noticed ill effects.

When I bought my car I had them pull the 16's and put on 17" Bullits. To the best of my knowledge they didn't add a spacer (especially considering how fast they did the swap). I have never had any rubbing anywhere. 18's should look really cool.

I know... I have barely a couple of mm clearance between wheel and caliper. Amazing how close the tolerances are.

Well Im still in the process of buying the wheels and Im keeping my fingers crossed that everything works well.. some nice chrome 18" wheels with some nice Z rated tires will add alot to my cars appearance.. and SVT people don't know what they are talking about!! lol, they probably just got really annoyed from us 18 year old v6 owners calling them... Kid "Omg can your awesome GT wheels like fit on my not so awesome v6?????!?!" SVT rep. "No! leave us alone and go buy a gt 500."
