Ford put 275/40-17 on the Cobras with 17x9's. I would assume they know what they were doing when they selected the tire size. Going much bigger than the ideal tire width can cause poor tire wear and increased sidewall flex.
na im keeping the 245s in the front, im thinking of getting the 315s cus my car cant hook for crap, if i shift from 3rd to 4th and dump the clutch the tires break loose so, i was thinking nitto 555r drag radials 315s ofcorse,

285 is the widest you can go on a 17x9. you need at least a 10.5 to go 315s. they might fit but you arent going to like the way your car rides. me personally i have 275s all around. i get decent traction and they look wide enough on the back and gigantic on the front.

personally i think anything over 195 on a muscle car is stupid, and i honestly dont care how the car rides because i take it for gas or coffee once or less a month anyways, you say widest i can go on 17x9 is a 285 then you say the 315s might fit are you saying they might fit on the 10.5 or 9

i was saying they might fit on a 17x9, but you wont be happy with the ride. you need a 10.5 to properly run a 315
you can put a 315 on a 17x9 alot of cobra owners do it with the 55r nittos due to they run thinner than most 315s any other tire brand you should have a 17x10.5
