Default What is the widest size tires to use on a 2005 Mustang GT?

Hello everybody, just trying to find out what is the widest tire I can use on my 2005 Mustang GT, open to suggestions for sizes, wheels are 18X9 front and 18X10 rear. Discount tires suggested Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31 245/40R18 front and 295/30R18 for rear, they were not sure what the maximum width tire we could use, your answers and help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I run run 295/45's on an 18x10 on the rear but its quit a bit taller in height, around 29 inches. So you may want to consider that aspect. It is a wide tire though. The offset on your wheels play into running a wider tire as well. The offset on my wheels is 45MM with plenty of clearance.

I've seen 305 and even a 315 on the rears... all about offset and backspace of the rim

this brings to mind something I have been trying to figure out for a while as well. using an 18x10 wheel in the back, what offset and tire combination will result in the widest available tire?

I run a 18x10 GT500 knock off and I have a 295BFG on it. I have meaured the clearance and when I smoke off this set I am having the rears widened to 11" and will be going with 315's. They will fit but barely.

so, the 18x10's you have right now have how much of a backspacing? and you are widening those wheels to squeeze 315's under the car and you will clear everything in the wheel opening?
