I'm about to buy new wheels for the stang and I really just needed to know how wheels from, for example americanmuscle.com, hold up against wheels from ford. I'd like to hear everyone's opinion especially people who've had experiences with both types.
Do you mean the rims or the tires? in either case, what size would you be interested in?

I had some fairly cheap aftermarket wheels on my truck for probably 8 years with absolutely no problems. Went through two sets of tires in that time and probably 80,000 miles. I didn't race it, and they looked good if you cleaned them up- which I didn't do nearly enough. They were cast aluminum and I think maybe made in China of all places.
I hope this helps. If they have the proper back spacing and fit good, there usually isn't a problem.

Wheels. I'm looking at 17x10.5 DD Anthracite Bullitts for the back and 17.9 in the front.
I've got a set of the ford racing anthracite bullitts that I bought off The Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels for around $100/ea and they weigh 22lbs a wheel. I had a set of knock off cobra R's on there before and the difference in quality is noticable.

I recently bought chrome bullits from americanmuscle. They look great and the quality is impeccable. You are most likely going to pay considerably more for OEM rims than you will for replicas.
And i have the same setup... 10.5x17 rear and 9x17 fronts.
The DD look in the back is awesome, the only problem you might run in to is finding tires for the rears. You'll need a 315 tire and the selection is EXTREMELY limited. You almost limit yourself to Summitumos (which I have) or a drag radial, or something in the $200+ range. If you have the money for the 315 tires, the 10.5 wheel outback is an awesome look
americanmuscle has great stuff.. most of the stuff on my car is from there including 17x10.5 deep dish antracites.. they look incredible and make the car look so much more aggressive. the wheels are the best part of my car. get them.. u wont regret it.

I got 18x9 & 18x10's bullis from them about 3 years ago and they worked out great so far.
