Default Need help with rim and tire fitting, 2006 Mustang GT

Black GT4 Wheel (18x9) - 2005+

I really like these rims and I want to just put on the stock tires onto these rims. The site says 18x9. Can anyone tell me the EXACT size of the stock rims for a 2006 GT premium? These are my curent rims.

Thanks for any responses!

The rims you have on your car are listed as a 17" wheel. At least the pic shown in the 2007 Ford Mustang brochure shows that. The stock 235/50/18 are too small for a 9" rim.I know, I,tried it for a short while. You need at least 255/45/18 for a 9 inch wide rim, maybe even a little wider. If they sell that wheel in a 17" size just get a 17x8" wheel so you can use the same tires.

So if I get aftermarket rims that are 17x8 they will fit the stock tires perfectly with no problems? The tires are BRAND new and I don't want to replace them.

I found the rims I like in 17x9...Can I put those on or will they not fit or make the car ride badly? Or am I limited to just 17x8?

Here are the new rims that I want. can you check the specs and see if they will fit the stock tires? Thanks!

Go to Tirerack.com and look at tires in the size you have. The specs will name the rim sizes they will fit.

Alternatively, look at the rim size you want: the specs or tire size/pricing will tell you what tire is recommended.

If you order a mismatch from Tire Rack, they will call you up and say so, offer opportunity to keep your choice, or recommend alternatives.

Tire Rack Web site also has some technical discussions with regard to making wheel and tire size selections. An education in itself.

What size tire do you have on there now? Your wheels are 17x8.5 so 17x9 should be fine.

After further consideration, I'll have to go with POCO, a 255 would be best to prevent sidewall compromise.
