It had better be raining there or something. I have the Extreme tire shine Gel by amorall, but before when I had the spray I used to whipe some on everyother day... It only takes about 5 minutes to do. If I had those cool black wheels and some worn gray tires I would be embarresed.
I saw that photoshopped pic w/ the red lip and ruined it totally.. i know this is a totally dif car / rim.. but this is my buddies car.. and we did this to his stock rims.. i think they look sick..

Rarely will I see a car with black rims that I like. I'm not a fan of black rims for the following reasons...
1) The don't provide enough contrast against the body of the car...especially a dark color car. Silver/chrome rims look exceptional on a black car for instance.
2) Black rims tend to make the tires stand out too much I think. Unless you keep the tires with a nice black sheen, the tires will look like almost gray next to a black rim if they are not treated.
+1 here.....2 much black and the car looks well,.....flat....

Like others are saying, I too, would have masked the lip to leave it machined looking.
Awesome look. If I had seen this before I bought my black/machined lip wheels I might have painted them too. It looks 100% better! I might do that to my old ones for the drag strip and for the winter tires.
I went with these and I like the grey-tire-look. It looks more like an oval track car. Putfile - Uploaded Picture
Everything else looked like too much chrome, after I got used to it.
jman, what type of paint did you use? Did you airbrush your wheels?
I've really been considering getting the black torqthrust, but if I can paint them...

I used duplicolor gloss black engine enamel (spray) and lots of laquer (spray).
