My Mod Bug is Consuming ME! Just bought new tires...
Ok, so after complaining to everybody about being broke, the mod bug stopped by to say hello to me! I noticed that for today only there was a sale on the tires that I have been eyeballing for close to a month now.
Well needless to say I ordered them! Nitto NT555 Extremes 245/45/17's. I decided on that size because I figured that 255's would be pushing it a little for the stock 17x8 rims.
if you don't mind me asking, why does everyone seem to get nitto 555's? are they like super sticky to the road? or have excellent all weather traction or what? cause they are the most common tire i see on this forum.
I have heard great things about them from friends that have had them. Plus when researching, they got amazing ratings in both wet and dry. I have always liked the BFGoodrich T/A KDW's, but a friend of mine spent $290 a tire and said that the wet traction sucked. he actually told me that when it rains, he cant drive, because he slides all over the road (he drives a cammed WS6). Anyways, the nittos got like a 9.9 rating in dry and like a 9.6 in wet, and a 9.2 for hydroplaning(off the top of my head). I only paid $98 a tire, and for something with result that nitto's deliver, I think ordering a different tire would be a waste of money. Nitto also makes 555R's which are there drag radials. They last like 15-20k miles which is unheard of for a DR that can be used for everyday driving.
to some it up, they are cheaper than others, perform better than priced competition and they look pretty sweet installed!
LOL, it's funny you calling it the mod bug. I have it very bad as well....fortunately (or unfortunately) my wife always has the cure for it....a firm "NO".
Although she eventually lets me get things, it's always in moderation and pretty much when she gives the OK. As I've mentioned in a different thread, she's buying me the JTL CAI and SCT Tuner for Christmas, so as long as I'm patient, I know I'll eventually get what I want. But reading this forum makes me want to go out and buy everything at once.

thats awesome, I tried asking my fiance for some car stuff, and she was giving me the "any other ideas" comments, haha... oh well
Glad to see that she lets you get stuff every now and then, a guy in my car club has to build his mustangs at a friends house, because his wife would kill him, by the way hes been through 4 mustangs and she only knew about 1 of them, haha!
