Default 17x8 rims for 1965 Mustang coupe

What size rims/ tire combos look best on a 65 coupe restomod? I will be purchasing american racing torque thrust II's. Does any have these? We plan to cut the springs down in the front to lower it. I am little concerned about rubbing the fender wells. Thanks to anyone out there!

The December 2007 Issue of Mustang Monthly has a great article on wheel fitment on classic mustangs. They provide a series of pictures of 15, 16 and 17 inch wheels (TT-like) on both a 67 and a 69. Gives you a good feel of the different stances. The 65 and 66 bodies have less room for big wheels than 67+ so your options might be a bit more limited. IMO, anything larger than 17 would not look good on a 65 or 66. I'm considering the whole range on my 66 coupe but an leaning mostly to 15 or 16 TTII.

The size of wheel you can accomodate will also depend on how you have the suspension configured and what brake you will run. Because I will have a stock suspension but Wilwood discs in the front only some 15 inchers will work and others will not. I may go with 16 just to avoid problems. The cost of wheels and tires goes up with size so that's another consideration
