2003 Mustang Cobra ...What wheel offset and is staggered the way to go?
I am about to purchase either 2003 Cobra, Cobra R, or 2000 Cobra rims. I am pretty much set on one of these three. My question is should I go with a staggered wheel and tire? In the rear I am going with a 275mm tire and an 18x10.5 and I can't decide if I want a 265 or 255 in the front with a 18x9. Also, what do you do if your tires are out of balance and you can't rotate them?
for the rotation, you are S.O.L. i have the Cobra 2000 rims and love them. staggered would be nice for looks but like you said you cant rotate them. i would only go 255 in the front, but if you road race, then you will want the wider tire

yeah rotating them sucks...if you have 10.5" rims you should go 300 mm series tires!! not 275 i have 275mm on my 8.5 inch rims in the rear and 245 in the front

I think my 275's up front are too big for the front, so IDK about 300 in the back. I am just want to know how much tread life I will get out of my tires if they are staggered since they can't be rotated. Can you still balance them?
i, with a lot of people have 17x9 and 17x10.5 rim combo with 275's and 315's...im on my second set of tires, they lasted me about 23K and their cheap sumitomos liek $400 for all 4. i was skeptical at first b/c of not being able to rotate, but i got over it, cuz it looks WAYYYY better and the tread life is def decent for getting the cheapest tires
I have a staggered set and i think they're awesome. they're actually the thing i like most about my car. I have 275's up front with 315's in the back and it looks friggin incredible. with the wide tires it makes your car look fast even when its not moving.. i love it!
as for tread wear, the car had sumitomo htrz tires on there when i bought it. that was about 15,000 miles ago and they're still going great. I wouldnt be surprised if they went another 10-15k. they may not hook as great as a bfgoodrich at the track but they got the job done for me when i went, they look awesome, and they're cheap (americanmusclee.com has them for $150 each for the rears and i think $120 for the fronts) If treadwear is a major concern i definitely recommend these. good balance of performance
I wonder if the wider tires last longer because they disperse the weight of the car more, putting less weight on the tires??

I have the sizes figured out. My question is chrome or machined? I know what a machined product looks like after it finsished. You can still see the grooves from the lathe, but doesn't chrome eventually start to rust?
