Default tire/rim questions, 2007 Mustang GT

Hey Guys need some help on tires. Just ordered a set of FRPP 18x8.5 rims for my 2007 gt and have gotten some strange replies to the tires I can put on them. One tire store told me that I shouldn't run a 18x8.5 on the rear. I should always stay with even numbers. Never heard that one before. I also need to know what size tires I should go with. I want wide/ fill out the wheel wells with out having to change wheel stops or other mods. Also will the pressure sensors from my 17's work with the 18's? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated

Don't lissen to them, the stock wheels are 18X8.5 so enjoy. I would have went to 10s for the back but thats me. Yes the sensors will work on the 18's you just need to get new straps to fit the wheels.
What size tires are you thinking of?

Thats the other question I have... I was looking at either Nitto's 555 or the BF KDW G force. I really dont get tire size IE 255, 285 but have talked about going with a 235/50/18 for the front and 255/45/18 for the rear. Does this sound right? What do you think of other tires I might want to look at.. Car has never seen rain or snow and hopefully never will

I'd go with 255 in front and 255 or 275 in back.

will 275's fit an 8.5" rim? I thought that a 255-265 would be about topping out what would work. I was told that for my 17x8's a 255 was as wide as you would wanna go before stressing the sidewall to much. so I would assume that 8.5 wouldn't be that much bigger, right?

Well I did a search on rims here and stlwagon ( I think) replied to someone saying that 255/45/18 fits fine and is what they call for. Now after reading should I get staggered or just four the same?

if it is you daily driver I think all 4 the same size would be smarter. a 255 isnt that much wider, so it will still work nicely in the front and rear, a 235/255 staggered look will hardly be noticeable, IMO. I went 245's cause they were alot cheaper than 255's....

GT speeder, How close are they to the fender lip? I was trying to get something that would be close to being flush with the lip. How much did you get your Nitto's for and where? thanks

255/45/18 on all 4. Wheel well gap will stay the same. And you can rotate.
275/40/18 would be going the opposite way of you wanted to fill up the wheel well. Also is wider that recommended on a 8.5" wheel.

Compare the stock 235/50 to the 255/45 in the pic
pics of car are at stock ride height.
