18 Inches You won't be slowed down (in the quarter, for instance) that much with 18's. Larger rim size is ALWAYS a trade-off in this respect - there's a reason serious dragsters use smaller wheels.
I run 18's (18x9 front, and 18x10.5 rear), and I love the look. They ride rougher than the 17's (lower profile tires do that), but handle better than my 17's (lower profile tires do that, too). But then, I don't drag race the car on the track.
18's also limit your choice of tires quite a bit, and everything costs more. 18's also clear big brakes, if THAT is a direction you are considering...
For a daily driver, I'd stick with 17's. I like the Steeda wheels (lots of Steeda parts on my car), and saving 20 pounds of unsprung weight is always a good thing.
