Default is it ok to go with 20" rims on my 2002 mustang

I just bought a 2002 mustang 3.8 liter. It's stock. I want to put some cool looking wheels and tires on it. I plan on doing alot to it.I read that 20" rims will look cool. Can I get awy with 20"s?! Do I have to change anything on the car? And how will effect the car? Thanks Bman

It's a look that I personally am not a big fan of. You wont have to modify anything to make them fit though.

Yes you can do it. Probably have to go with 7 or 8 inch width rim and 235/30/20 tire. It will ride like a log wagon and feel a lot slower, and your brakes will not work as good because of the increased rotational mass. Your gona get a lot of people say not to do it and it looks stupid but what ever floats your boat. Deep dish 18s would look good too.....

I 20's on my 03. They look awesome. The car handles very well. With no mods they will slow your car down considerably. I put 4:10's in my car which help off set the increase in tire size. I then installed a K&N CAI. Right now, my car accelerate well even with the 20's. My car is lowered and has stiffer springs than stock so with addition of the 20's, the ride can be rough when the street rough. Watch pot holes and bumps in the road. You will feel them, I guarantee. Once you get use to driving with them, it will be fine. I've driven 300 plus miles traveling from northern ca to Los Angeles and they run great! Heres some pictures of my car.

I got 19"s w/toyo 35 series on my 04 GT and it needs better brakes. I will be posting pics in the new wheel pic thread. Traction is great but ride is much harder and interior road noise has increased. They seem to fade under heavy braking, kind of dangerous when freeway traffic suddenly stops. I'm gonna try the cobra brake upgrade kit its just $380. If that doesn't work will look into brembo\willwood. Check out some of the new staggered wheels with the fat lip. Im lookin at some 8.5 front and 9.5 rear, nice...
