Sorry bud, I just remembered about this. If it's a decision about an 8 or a 9, go with the 9. And you can reverse the quads, not take them off permanently but take them off and put them back on in reverse. This will put the large part of the shock body outside the wheel, not where the tire would contact it, but yet still keep the quads. Doing this will give you nearly another inch of clearance between the quad and the tire.
Tire sizes should be in the front a 235/45 and the rear a 275/40 at the largest. A 275 tire will fit on 9 to 11 inch wide wheels, and the 235 will fit 7 1/2 to 9 inch wide wheels.
