Default 2005 Mustang V6 16" wheels to 18"

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. Someone locally is selling these wheels: Ford Racing Performance Parts [M-1007-U1885P*] for a pretty good price. I was wondering, has anyone gone from the stock 16" wheels to 18" wheels? Will I encounter any problems? I read the note that says I'll need to install a new steering stop.. How much does a part like that typically cost, and is installing it hard? Thanks guys!

i have never heard of a steering stop and i still have my stock wheels, but there are lots of people who have switched to 18" and also 20" rims without clearance issues.
so if you dont get the answer on this thread just find some one with 18" wheels and sent them a pm about it.

I'm more than sure you speedometer will be off by a bit. I have the stock 16'' rims and got a different tire size and it threw my speedo off by 3 mph. If you have a tuner you can fix it yourself or a ford dealer will do it for bout $50.

Tire Rack was selling those wheels at $125.00 each, for comparison.

I bought the "steering stop' when I changed to 17" Bullitts, but never installed it, and couldn't detect any problems.

Now I have the "Fanblades" like you're looking at, no problems, no steering stop (it's a $12 nylon spacer for the steering arm stop that is there originally).

Look at Tire Rack's tire specification pages to compare diameters and wheel revs per mile. I chose 245-45s that are half-an-inch shorter than the 235-55 Pirellis; difference is like 12 revs per mile, not that noticeable.

Coulda bought mine a few weeks ago. Sold em for 300,
(w/option 400 with tires that had one summer left.)

Are they coming with tires? You said someone was selling locally for a good price. If not I would recommend 255/45/18. Will not gain wheel well gap, and speedo wont need to be recalibrated.

Will fit without issues wheel/tire.
