Default 1965 - 1966 Tire and Wheels Picture Thread

Ok the idea of these picture threads are just that PICTURES! Many enthusiasts
first upgrade is in the wheel and tire category. Many have question on what they will look like and what will fit. Instead of searching the entire forum for a combo or what is needed for making them fit this will be the place to post pictures of your wheel and tire combo and any modifications needed to make them fir…example rolling the wheel wells.
Having pictures will better enable members to pick the combo that they like best.

All discussion of the picture threads should be done in the Picture Thread Discussion and not in the picture thread, other wise it wouldn’t be a picture thread. So if any one has suggestions or want to ask a question about fit the discussion is the place to ask them.

So post in the Picture thread should contain Pictures of the wheels and the following info.

Year of Mustang
Wheel Size
Tire Size
What modification, if any, needed to make it fit
And is you car lowered and how much.

I have posted one in the Fox body section to give everyone an idea so lets now see thoes Wheel and Tire Combos!

I have 245/40/17 all the way around, rubbing wheel well in front and hitting a little over big bumps in back. Any suggestions?

You need to make sure you have lowered the upper a arms (aka shelby drop) and then get an alignment. Factory specs won't work for you.

You need
1/8 toe
-2.5 to -3 camber
1.5 or so caster

This is what I run on my 65 with 245 40 17s on an 8 inch rim with 4.75 backspacing. You can decrease the camber amount but then you would need to roll the front fender lips.

Rubbing in the rear can be caused by:
1. Worn out rear springs/shocks
2. Lateral rear movement
3. Fender lips

Rolling the rear fender lips can help but there people that are able to run 245s in the rear on a 17 inch without rolling the rear lips so I would look at the age of the suspension first (and if it is lowered at all etc...) if it were me. I run 255s in the rear for the street and I did roll my rear lips. After I put my watts link in the lateral movement that was causing my issue went away and I prob wouldn't need the rolled lips anymore.
