Here is a detailed look at my custom made center console for my 66 Mustang.
I made the console from 1" thick oak wood. I never liked the standard plastic console. Mine had disintegrated over the years and needed to be replaced. I made this console myself.
I matched the size, angles and fit to the original as much as possible. I made a custom modification to the rear courtesy light that illuminated the back seat. I installed some crystal glass bezels that came from an old chandelier. Buffalo nickels hold the bezel in place. These can be removed to access the lamp should it need to be replaced. I plan on making another one with some other cool ornamentation and rear light options. I am thinking of offering this as a kit for anyone who might be interested in installing one for their ride. I love how the wood looks when the sun hits it. Really complements the chrome components and the baby blue interior of my 66. Your comments are much appreciated!
