Note the drip rail delete over the window. My dad and I just didn't like that big chrome strip hanging out there, so we cut it off! Took many hours of welding and refinishing and sculpting the curve on the back bottom corner of the window - this is one of my favorite developments from the project.
This is after the new paint job. My dad and I did this, our first go at a full-on paint job. Took it down to bare metal, did all the body work, blocking and sanding, and primer coats; then took it to the paint shop for color and clear coats. Looked at deep red colors for years to hunt down the right one. Was looking at Ford's 2010 Red Candy color, but it was just a shade brighter than what I was looking for (I wanted a standard color that was cheaper/easier to match). Oldsmobile had a red that was close, but just a little too deep. Then while working on the body work, came across GM's Crystal Red Tintcoat on a HHR at a dealership - I stared at it for a long time from all sorts of angles, and loved the way it deepens in the shadows and absolutely pops in the sunlight.
