Hey fellas,
I have a 93 mustang with a 2.5 stroker turbo engine (Built off of the same engine as a SVO mustang; a 2.3L turbo) in it. It runs really well, only has about 20k miles or so on the engine, The engine is loaded structurally and if you had a big enough turbo, ,enough fuel, and good tuning it could easily handle 500 hp or more structurally.
The car as it is at about 18psi boost(with the small turbo)...I have run all the way up to 22psi which is a screamer! Will run around a 14.0-14.2 1/4 mile time....
The engine would get a 40-50 hp boost plus with something as simple as a stock Garrett T3 Turbo...(I suspect its nearing 300hp right now...prolly the 280-290 range....
Heres the mods the engine has:
2.3L Stock block bored 30 over (but stroked to a 2.5L)
1)2.5l Stroker crank
2) A front mounted Large NPR Intercooler
2)Crower Sportmans Stroker Rods
3) Wiseco Dished pistons
4) SS Valves and a 5-way Valve Job
5)Ported and Polished Exhaust and Intake...and decked Iron Cylinder Head
6)IHI Turbo
7)Anti-Pump Tappets
8)Billet Roller Crane Cam (HOT... redlines at 6000, Strong Low end cam)
8)Stinger Aluminum Intercooler pipes
9)Holley 255lph Fuel Pump
10)Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator
11)Ported and Polished Upper and Lower Intakes
12)Bledon MAX wires
13)Large Vane Air Meter
14)K+N Air Filter
15)Iron E6 Exhaust Manifold
16)New A/C Compressor(although disconnected)
17)Serpentine Belts from a 93LX
18)New Alternator+Starter
19)Gillis Valve set at 21psi
20)Adjustable Cam Pully
21)2.75 Inch Pipe all the way back from the turbo with a simple Flowmaster Muffler(sounds like a Hopped V-6) No Catalytic Converter
22)Reinforced Aluminum oil pan
23)35lb per hour Injectors
24)Beefed up a4ld Tranny
25)Polished Aluminum Cobra R's
26)Infinity Kappa Perfect Subwoofer 12"
25)Infinity AMP
26)Kenwood Head Unit
The outside of the car is in good shape....it does have a some dings, bumps and chips on it...as you would expect from a 15 year old car, The body itself has about 200k miles on it... but it has been well taken car of. Honestly the body of the car is not worth that much...You could easily take the engine out of this car and drop it into an SVO mustang, Merkur, or Thunderbird Turbocoupe(or any car for that matter), sell the LX chassis to drag racer and have a blast with the engine in your Turbocoupe or SVO. Or just part the engine out for parts to keep or sell... The engine does need one new injector...it does run fine with the injector as is, but one of the injectors leaks a bit from the cap and needs to be replaced...It also has a small tranny leak when you gun it at full boost..but not on normal driving conditions (likely vacuum and modulator related.)
THE ENGINE PICS DO NOT REFLECT THE ADDED FRONT MOUNTED INTERCOOLER AND PIPING!
