Description:
|
Direct bolt-on heads for 1982-95 5.0L and 5.8L (351-W) V8s originally equipped with pedestal mount rocker arms. On a ’93 5.8L engine torque improved more than 80 ft/lbs. over stock when these heads were combined with the Edelbrock Total Power Package. They accept 1982-95 5.0L V8 pedestal mount rocker arms and valvetrains. 1.90" intake valves are for use with stock pistons and 2.02" intake valves are for aftermarket pistons notched for valve clearance. These heads will not accept rail rockers. Ford 5.0L engines require Edelbrock Head Bolt Bushings #9680 and either Edelbrock Head Bolt Kit #8552 (7/16") or stock head bolts. See chart for more specs. Note: 1986 5.0L must have pistons notched for clearance.

Cons:

none

This is a quality head. TFSs in comparison are cheap looking (you pay for that)
They are truly a bolt on deal, even keeping all your old valvetrain including stamped rockers.
Sold them because of money troubles, but definately would buy again.
The new models are already CNCed so they should flow in pair or better than 165 AFRs.

I put these on a stock short block w/ Edelbrock Performer intake, 65mm throttle body, 75 mm Maf, and e303 cam. Power feels the same up til about 3-3500 rpm's, where it pulls harder than stock, and keeps pulling all the way to 6-6500 rpms. Definatly great for a mild street motor, or more. Even with these heads/combo, I managed to get 25 mpg with 3 people in the car and luggage.

quality, power, features

Cons:

not best flowing head

The heads were of superb quality and provided outstanding power. I've heard that TFS TW and AFR 165's make more power but I am still happy with these. I recommend these if you want trouble free bolt on performance.

Pros:
|
Bolt on, Brand name, Lightweight, Woke car up
|
|
Cons:
|
Valvesprings started eating into AL (old version)
|
|
Part of the first mods to my 95 GT after 3.73 gears.
I put on these heads (6037 1st gen.), Cobra intake, 1.7 rockers and FMS shorty headers.
Car went from a wheezer to a screamer. Well, untill the Kenne Bell that is.
I took them off at 10 or 20,000 miles and checked the pocket under the valvesprings after some internet reports of the springs eating into the pockets and mine were just starting too. I wouldn't really be too happy with an engine full of AL shavings.
But this was just around the time their were some internet reports of valve guide problems on Twisted Wedge heads too, which may have made more power.
Also, some say (internet rumor) that the spring package on the Edelbrocks is weak.

I just bought a set off a friend, just what rockers do you recommend with these heads and a E303 cam. Do you have to change the pushrods?
