Description: C&L COMPLETE MAF SYSTEM FOR 2005 MUSTANG GT

C&L is pleased to announce ANOTHER FIRST for Mustang enthusiasts. Owners of the cool new 2005 GT Mustang will love the complete package that we have developed for these vehicles. So much more than a "cold air" kit, this is a complete system that truly addresses every aspect of improving the air intake on the all-new Mustang. As a complete throttle-body forward package, the entire factory air intake assembly is replaced with all new components. While others will try to sell a "cold air" package that consists of a cone filter and an exhaust pipe tube based mass airflow housing, only our package comes with an all-new (patent pending) cast inlet pipe and a larger CNC machined aluminum mass airflow housing. Also included in this package is a new high flow conical filter assembly, custom filter shroud that separates it from the engine compartment heat, MAF mounting bracket, mounting hardware, installation tool and instructions. Dyno testing the 2005 GT has shown that the computer is so sensitive to airflow changes that a computer modification is necessary in order to control the air/fuel ratio at the proper level. Installing this air intake assembly on a 2005 GT without any tuning will result in a leaner-than-ideal 14:1 air/fuel ratio. While certainly not lean enough to cause engine durablility concerns, it is leaner than what is desired for optimum performance. Even when replacing the air filter ONLY to a higher flow assembly, the air/fuel ratio leans out at an alarming rate. This means that any 2005 Mustang owner who is interested in modifying their new car for better performance will have to use some form of tuning, and we feel that we have found the best solution.

To make things as easy as possible for the end user, C&L has worked closely with Diablosport to offer a simple computer adjustment and tuning option for the 2005 Mustang GT. Available with their new air intake assembly, C&L are providing a special Diablosport Predator that comes pre-loaded with a specfic tune for our air intake upgrade. With this tuner, you will have the ability to not only make the adjustments necessary for the new air inlet assembly, but also control the air/fuel ratio and timing level based upon the octane quality of the fuel that you are using. Most importantly, what also makes this system superior to other options is that you have the personal capability to make further adjustments in the future to both your air/fuel and timing levels as you make other changes to your vehicle. This means that any changes that you make in the future can be easily compensated for using the tuner without the need to rely on someone else to "re-flash" your handheld tuner. This keeps you from having to rely on others to make future adjustments, and puts YOU in control!

Installing the tune from the Predator is as easy as 4 simple steps...

Plug the tuner into the service port and select "Performance" from the main menu.
Select "C&L MAF" from the available tunes, and then tell the programmer to install the tune. This will automatically re-flash the processor with a program that is optimized for a vehicle with our intake system and premium unleaded fuel.
If you want to run low octane fuel, simply modify the tune by using the global spark adjuster function of the Predator. Remove 2 degrees for 91 octane and up to 5 degrees for 87-89 octane fuel as necessary.
If you have installed a cat-back exhaust system as well, further adjustments should not be necessary. With an off-road (or high flow cat) H or X pipe installed, we recommend that you check your air/fuel ratio on a dyno to ensure that it is not leaner (numerically higher) than 13.3:1. If it is, then use the Predator tuner to add an appropriate percentage of fuel to optimize the air/fuel ratio.

Pros: Easy and quick install. Power added better than advertised
Cons: Preditor instructions not clear about downloaded C&L tune

I just put a C&L MAss Airflow intake system on my 2005 Mustang GT. It is the only mod I have installed so far. I also received poor performance until I realized the Diablosport Preditor did not come with the C&L MAF tune installed. I had to download it from Diablosport.com. After I installed this tune the performance increase was noticable. I made 6 quarter mile runs with and without the C&L intake installed and here is the AVERAGE of those runs:

STOCK INTAKE:
1/4 Mile time: 13.75
1/4 Mile Speed: 103.10
0-60: 5.55
MAX HP: 290

C&L INTAKE WITH PREDITOR C&L TUNE
1/4 Mile Time: 13.32
1/4 Mile Speed: 107.70
0-60: 4.82
MAX HP: 344

To me, those increases are significant and I can feel them when I press the accelerator.

My question to you, crdshrp, is : did you install one of the default Preditor tunes or did you install the one labeled \"C&L MAF\"? (May need to download from diablosport.com)

Pros: easy to install, good power
Cons: one yet

The installation of this product literally took about 15minutes. The only problem I had was the company I bought the kit from downloaded the wrong file into the tuner. It was not for our mustang. The car ran like crap with the file we downloaded since it was not for the C&L. It also threw some check engine codes. We then had to make a late night trip to go find a serial cable and power supply for the diablosport tuner. After downloading the new tune into the predator, we flashed it into the car and there was a huge diffference. The power is very noticable and will push you back in the seat. Drivability is the same. I have not noticed any loss of power at any throttle or RPM. Great product.
