Description: For my birthday, my husband, Garry, who lovingly puts up with my Mustang addiction, bought me a CAI that doesn't require a tune from American Muscle.

If you haven't seen any of my other threads about tunes, we're concerned - largely because if something happens with the car - the tune becomes a target - the problem can be blamed on the tune and we're just not prepared to fight the big fight (we've fought enough and need a break...).

Today my brother installed this CAI for me today K & N FIPK CAI - he is a technically adept person who has worked on many of his own cars. The instructions were a bit sketchy in certain areas and what others said would be a 1/2 hour install was probably around an hour and a half. I fully planned on helping, but am bright enough to know - it was over my head... I held the directions and read them aloud... does that count? No?
I know...

Scott, thank you so much!!!

Immediately, upon me driving the car there was a notable improvement in the "throttle lag" that the automatics are known for. I have to admit, I was quite skeptical about what, I - as the driver - would get out of this being installed... but I have to tell you, it was quite impressive. My only regret is not doing it earlier. It's amazing how much more responsive the car feels.

I could care less about HP gains - I am going nowhere - fast. So it's not the HP #'s I was going for...

If you are looking for a CAI without a Tune, I am very happy - so far - with my K & N. I was dually impressed with how K & N backs their products. Every piece of literature in the box said any problems, call us - if your dealer has a problem, call us. That makes a difference, too.

To top it off, on my way home, a beautiful Tung (i think) pulled up along side... ah, nothing like a Mustang...

Thanks for the great birthday gift, Garry!

Pros: adds cleaner look to engine compartment
Cons: none that I have found

I did not want to mess with a tuner as I am not looking for a tremendous gain, but there is a noticable increase in throttle smoothness and it does sound a bit better- well worth the money to me.
