Description: Evolution Motorsport's unique underbody "X" Brace incorporates fore/aft rails and cross car tubes to unify the overall vehicle structure. This improves torsional and bending stiffness, resulting in improved vehicle response. This bolt-on design includes a driveshaft safety loop and allows clearance for side and rear exit exhaust. The underbody "X" brace is available in a "Shorty" model, as well as, a "Full length"version.

The "Shorty X Brace" is a fully welded assembly. 49" inches in length, extending from the rear torque box to the transmission crossmember (approximately 16" rearward of the forward most section of the vehicle subframe). A Bolt-on driveshaft safety loop is also included.

The "Full Length X Brace" comes with a fully welded center "X" assembly. Separate fore/aft rails, 65" inches in length, extending from the rear torque box to the forward most section of the vehicle subframe (center "X" requires welding to the fore/aft rails). A bolt-on driveshaft safety loop is also included.

The Bolt-On version is available for the "Shorty" X only. The Bolt-On assembly requires no welding to the vehicle and attaches to existing fastening points on the Mustang underbody. The Fore/Aft rails of the Underbody "X" brace are pre-drilled. The ends of the Fore/Aft rails are open to allow for water drainage. Required fasteners are included.

The Weld-On assembly requires welding to the vehicle. The Fore/Aft rails of the Underbody "X" brace have no pre-drilled holes. The ends of the Fore/Aft rails are capped. No fasteners are included. Brace has no pre-drilled holes. The ends of the Fore/Aft rails are capped. Fasteners are included for the driveshaft safety loop only.

Pros: fit & finish, built in driveshaft loop
Cons: none

Just completed the install. I tend to be careful and take my time, still, the entire install procedure from jack stands to highway only took a total of 2 hours of actual work. Evolution recommends you drop the H pipe ( easier said than done) but I found you can use a pry bar to get enough clearance between the exhaust and frame to install the connector. Jockeying the brace into place is definitely a two-man job, but once the grunt work is over, the unit bolted quickly and easily into place. On the road you can feel the difference immediately. The car feels solid and steering is improved, especially on rough surfaces. I will be going back to Evolution for one of their Spyder Braces when they become available after SEMA. Mike at Evolution is very helpful and knows his products.
