A new record has been set for the world’s largest gathering of Ford Mustangs. And it was in Belgium. What gives, America?
That’s right, Ford of Europe helped set up the gathering of cars that saw 1,326 Ford Mustangs of nearly every age and style get together for one massive event.
It might be a surprise to you that Ford even sells that many Mustangs in Europe, but it turns out that they’ve sold 5,500 in Europe in the first half of this year. Which group of Europeans buys the most Mustangs? The Belgians. Ford says that more Mustangs are sold per capita there than any other European country. Which is why, it says, the Lommel Proving Ground in the country was the best place to have the gathering.
That means that the U.S. of A doesn’t have the honor of the seemingly obvious lock on the largest group of Mustangs in one place. In fact, the home of the pony car isn’t even second. Nope, the old record was 960 vehicles. Set in Toluca, Mexico in December of 2017.
So maybe it’s time for Ford and Mustang owners to show them what a world record of Mustangs really looks like.
