Yeah, they came with tubes. Should I not use those? I thought that it would be better if I did.

The last 4 numbers are 1800. What does that mean?

Radials should not be run with tubes. Those are tubeless designs
Those tires are 8 years old is what it means.

Shut up! Are you serious? 8 years? That's bunk. Probably why it's cracked. The other one looks fine. Think I should dump them both and just start over? I've pretty much turned into an ATM at this point, so money is starting to become less of a concern.

Yeah, that is weird about those gremlins. I was looking at this post like, "um, that didn't really answer the question, but ok." Then I saw the other post you made. I remember Mark saying something about this a few weeks back. Eh, I'm used to **** happening by now. I can take this.

I checked the other tire and it has the same date. I also did some reading and while there isn't an official "shelf life" on tires, these are past the recommended time for changing.

YES!!! I get to spend MORE MONEY TO FIX BROKEN/DEFECTIVE/NON-FUNCTIONAL MODS!!!!!!

I hate this drug........

What numbers we looking for on most current tires? I'm picking up a set of MT ET Streets and want to make sure I'm not being shafted. THANKS!!!

Well, I bought those used, so that's probably why they are so old. I looked for some on Summit and they woudln't ship until June, so if you are buying them new, I woudln't expect them to be "old".

Maybe the guy I bought them from didn't know any better. I certainly didn't. The tires look fine with the exception of the crack. I read an article about a guy who's tire exploded after 11 years and it left his car in pretty bad shape. Tire looked fine, felt fine, had plenty of tread left. Just old I guess.

These will be hitting the dumpster soon enough though. Better to be safe than sorry.

As far as the number, the first two numbers specify the week and the next two specify the year. So my tires were made on the 18th week of the year 2000; sometime in May of 2000. I was still in high school. They are THAT old. :hihi:
