Question 2005 Mustang GT Horn Problem

My horn quit working a few weeks ago and I have not had a chance to take it to a shop to have it looked at. I did check the fuses and they are all fine. The strange thing is that the horn will sound when I lock my car and set the alarm, but nothing happens when I tap my steering wheel. Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

Sounds like the horn button may have failed.

That was the only thing I could think of. I guess that will be something I will need to have a shop look at.

Add an aftermarket airhorn and scare your friends or people that are stopped too close to train tracks. Would that be considered mean?

Forged bottom end, Ported heads, Saleen super charger, 2.8 blower pulley/15psi, Dual stage water to air intercooler, AFCO heat exchanger, battery relocated, Twin GT500 fuel pumps, T-56 trans, Aluminum flywheel, Aluminum driveshaft, 3.73 rear gears, Eaton TruTrac Diff, TA Performance rear end girdle, Racecraft suspension system, UCA, LCA, panhard bar, 15" slotted front rotors w/ 6 piston calipers, Carbon Fiber front splitter/rear diffuser, and bunch of other stuff
RWHP/RWTQ is adequate

If you have to suggest what the shop should check you may want to consider a different shop. My $.02

I took it to this shop we use for everything with our cars. They looked as far as they could without removing the steering column and couldn't find a problem. They think it might be something behind the airbag and are ordering the part. I can't think if what the part was, but they said the part was $50 and with labor the repair will be $240. I'm kind of mad that it's going to cost that much for a part that might be the problem. Ugh...
