well today i bought a new cps for only 20 bucks. I figured if its more then a faulty sensor then im only out 20 bucks. I thought there was only 1 Cam position sensor? The guy at NAPA said so. He also said that the other sensor is the "crankshaft position sensor." I have located both of these but still am trying to figure out which one is which.

you have a cam position sensor on each side of the motor,...one for each cam. Go to autozone and have them read your code it will tell you which one it is. Sensor 1/ Bank 1 or sensor 2/ bank 2 type of deal. I cant remember if #1 is on the drivers side or passenger side but they should know. Did you check your fuses? Granted if you had a blown fuse you should of had more than just one code.

oh well i only bought one sensor because he made it sound like I only needed one. hopefully only one of them is bad. I could always try replacing randomly one of them and if it doesnt take the CEL off then take it back out and put the new sensor in the other side right? I guess i will run by the oil change place again and see if the computer pulls up which one it is. I didnt pay that close attention last time so I cannot remember which one it is.

okay so today i changed out one of the sensors and it was easy! took about ten mins MAX. Started my car and my car deffinitly seemed to run alot better as far as throttle response goes. The CEL went off for now but I did have to disconnect the battery to install the CPS. If that did not fix the problem how long should it take before the system notices the problem and the CEL comes back on??

So I had my alternator replaced yesterday and as of tonight the light is still off. The only problem I still notice is that when i turn on my a/c the RPM's jump between anywhere from 400-650. when the a/c is turned of the RPM's go back to 700/750. I am courious why this is happening, could it be because my computer is still relearning things since I had to discount the battery again yesterday? Any suggestions are welcomed
