I'm going to order a CAI and tune tomorrow

Just curious, anyone have a Steeda 555-3920 kit, CAI and SCT tuner, who supplies the "tunes for life", does it compare to the FRPP CAI and Pro Cal tune , I need to order one tomorrow,
thanks, I have the 4.10s FRPP to go in still. :?:

The FRPP/Pro Cal set up will be more mild, IMO. Brenspeed & Bamachips/American Muscle seem to be the top choices for a lot of AFM people. For instance, if I buy more upgrades/parts from Brenspeed they will update the tune to work with your new parts. I believe the FRPP path will restrict you in that respect. Others will clarify better than I can. My .02

Thanks for the help and info, I like the FRPP but was afraid of being locked in to one tune. Just in case I ever do find the money tree my son thinks we have, it would be nice to be able to get different tunes, thanks again

the frpp does not have a oiled filter. It will cost you $40 every time you need to change it. The tube diameter is smaller than the JLT and Steeda. The JLT 110mm is the largest you can buy. I like the JLT 89mm CAI. You cant beat it for price to performance. I used American Muscle and Brenspeed for tunes.....I prefer Brenspeeds tune.

I run Bama tunes over the top of the FRPP ProCal tune (via SCT) without any problems.

The ProCal gears compensation sticks on the street and with the SCT tuning.

SCT tunes lose the gear compensation when returned to stock. The Ford dealer folks discovered they can't change the gear ratio on most models. Unless you have a S197 Bullitt or (maybe?) a Shelby GT, Mr Ford himself isn't going to be much help, there.

Mr FRPP is Johnny-On-The-Spot.

I think the answer you're looking for is that there is a big difference by going with custom tunes over Ford's calibrations? If that's the question, absolutely positively, 100% better. Any custom tune that is done by SCT/Diablo in the aftermarket is going to provide better power and throttle response, shifting, etc. This is because Ford still has to adhere to strict warranty/EPA guidelines whereas performance shops/suppliers don't.

I think you'll be more-than-happy with one of our SCT X3 devices with free tunes for life. This applies whether or not you decide to purchase the parts from us or not. Give me a shout if you have absolutely any questions, or you can call and speak directly to our Bama Custom Tuning Team who can give you tons of details and answer any questions pre-sale and post-sale! Thanks!

I have the FRPP CAI and a performance tune from AM and can barely tell the difference when I had the JLT with the AM performance tune.

I now refer to my old JLT as my "hot air intake"

Not suprised. The JLT has an 89mm diameter and the FRPP 85mm. There is a 110mm JLT and the Steeda is 90mm. 89mm JLT is the best bang for the buck.

I have the FRPP CAI installed, I was surprised it's not a washable filter like the FRPP package one is I installed on the wife's. Pypes Bombes and 93 tune installed. Nice improvement, I like it a lot. I can't get over the slow return to idle in these cars, when you let off to shift. It seems if you were road racing the car, it would take forever for engine braking to help, am I missing something? Tune is great, I cant' wait to get the headers and 4.10's in to finish the package, thanks all for the help and input !!

That replacement filter is not cheap either. Glad you like your additions to the car. Making the car exactly what YOU want is the fun part of modding.
