2010 Mustang GT Rear End Noise and Leak

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone else has had experience this problem. I recently noticed a scrubbing noise when making a turn at a slow speed, 5 -15 mph. I only hear it at slow speeds. I put the car on stands yesterday and rotated the rear wheels and didnt hear any noise or feel any grinding.

I noticed an oil build upon the right axle. There is what appears to be a one way valve on top of the axle. Does anyone know the purpose of this valve. I have attached a pic of the valve. This seems to be where the fluid was released. I have factory installed 3.73s. Thanks for any insight.

that valve should vent the rear end, and should not leak fluid.

i would be at the dealership Monday morning. good luck

My service coordinator told me that ford had identified the valve as an issue and already has a replacement. I was also told that the scrubbing noise was normal. I beg to differ and will get a second opinion. I will check to see if the noise is still present when the rearend is full of oil again.
