2005 Mustang GT Strange warning light flashes on and off...

Howdy, has anyone ever experienced this issue:

I noticed the other day after shutting the car off, there is a red light that slowly goes on and off. It depicts a car with a padlock on it. The light is on the ride side of the tachometer display.

I assume it must be security related and is warning of an event or something, but I can't find anything in google searches that gives me a clue as to what it is or how to clear it. Car starts and runs fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is no such thing as to much horespower..!!

Is it new or is this just the first time you've noticed it? I'm not sure about the 05-10 models, but on my '02, the "theft" light flashes periodically once the car is shut off. I assume that this is to deter theft by indicating the presence (or appearance) of an alarm system.

It has always done this since I've owned the car.

here is what you do, roll the windows down all the way. get out and shut the doors. press the lock button on your keyless entry until you hear the car horn. then once you do that wait for about 15 secs then reach in try to get something from the center console.

yea its the security light on the car.
The above hint only works if the plastic housing around the reading lights has horizontal slats in it, thats for the motion sensor. If it doesnt actually have holes it doesnt have one.
