Clutch disc size change

I'm running the stock clutch in my 05 GT. I believe it is a 10.5". I'm having my motor built next month and I want to have the G-Force gears put in my 3650 trans (not interested in changing trans out for various reasons).

The new input shaft is 26 splines; my stock clutch is 10 or 12(?) splines. So, can I have the trans built now, and install an ELEVEN inch 26 spline disc till I get my new Mach 500 11" clutch installed with the engine?

Difference is 1/2" dia = 1/4" larger disc on each side under the 10.5" pressure plate.

Will it work?

The clutch for the 2005+ Mustangs is 11" not 10.5 .. The clutch disc is 10 spline also ...

Are you planning on using the stock PP with the aftermarket disc?

I know people have used an aftermarket disc with the OE PP without a PP spacer without problems.

I have a lightly used ACT 26 spline organic disc if you want it ..

Will you drive this on the street?

When you get that transmission in the car and running, please report back how much gear "whine" you have. I've heard that it is too noisy to be practical for street use.

Thanks for bringing that up. This car is ONLY used on the street. I will have to contact G-Force and see what they have to say before I order the parts... I was not aware of the gear sets being "noisy". I'll let you know what they say. May end up changing out trans after all...

Coincidentally enough I have a G-Force geared transmission that was built by GForce a couple years ago ..

I bought it off a guy who used it for road racing and swapped it out for a 6-speed cause he needed another lower gear.

With 12,000 miles on it , it has no noticeable whine and it shifts smoothly @7000rpms with a SPEC 3+ Clutch and a Hurst shifter that most people hate on ...

So, is your first gear 2.90 or 3.38?

2.90 and I do miss that 3.38 1st .. However the 2.90 1st does help with roasting the tires from a stop with a 4.10 rear ...

2nd is slightly taller at 1.91,, 3rd is 1.37, which is a little shorter than the stock 1.32 which has me crossing the 1/8 at 6900 with a 27.5" DR.

I'm rather tired of spending money on this car for now but at some point I'm going to switch to a 26" tire to help overcome the 2.90 1st gear.

5th is .58 which makes highway cruising easier over the stock .68 with 4.10's.
