TR-3650 swap to TR-6060

I'm done F-ing around with my TR-3650. Since my car was new I've had shifting problems with it. 2nd gear would grind in high rpms with clutch in all the way. Third started doing this shortly after. Was all stock with no mods yet.
Fast forward to now. Three clutch setups and tons of advice, I end up with a car that's had everything replaced in the hydraulics. Different flywheels, slave cylinders, pressure plates, clutch lines, shifter, fluids and I always end up with the same issue. The transmission is the only common thing. The reason I haven't changed my trans is..... It drives great when the car is cold. Soon as it warms up it doesn't want to shift, in or out of gears. I've always though it was a fluid problem. I dunno anymore. I'm so done with this issue. I've spent way too much money on this.
Now I'm changing the trans due to a great deal from a friend. I'm picking up a new GT500 TR-6060 trans with a factory GT500 flywheel, factory GT500 clutch and factory Gt500 pressure plate. Gonna see if this will be the fix all. Has anyone done this and have any tips? Will the Shelby setup work with a 4.6L 3V? Any wiring? Thank you.

Way too much to list. I'm broke because of it. Tuned by Blue Collar Performance.

Doesn't the GT500 flywheel have 8 bolts and your crank has 6?

Can't help with the swap but I wanted to point out that the GT 500's were plagued with the same problem you mentioned. The 2013 gt500 has a lot of revisions to try to correct the shifting issues. So after the swap you may still need synchros and other parts replaced. It's luck of the draw if you get a good one or not.

Why not call Hanlon and talk to them as they sell beefed up and totally revised 3650's.

That is for sure!! And you will have to change the driveshaft (it needs to be shortened).

Bob Hanlon is building a 3650 trans for me. I will have to change the clutch disk to a 26 spline, but nothing else needs to be changed. It's rated to about 800 fwhp with lots of beefed up parts. Hanlon's number is: 610-469-2695

He's in PA, can ship anywhere via truck/frieght. Takes about 2 weeks for him to build one... Give him a call; he's a great guy to deal with.

You will also need to change your crossmember & transmission mount to the GT500 type...

If your motor is SC you might like the gear ratios of the 6 sp 6060 better than the 3650. I know I do. I have the 2010 version with the .5 to 1 6th gear.

908ssp you're correct on the flywheel. I am supercharged and can't wait to get this trans in next week. As far as the 3650 i'm done with those. I'd rather have the slightly taller 6th gear and higher torque capacity.

What did [email protected], and Sqidd go with? Wasn't there's a TR6060 Magnum? That is a tad bit different than the GT500's right?
I THINK they ordered there's from D&D Performance - D&D Performance S197 Transmission Installation Kits
That shows what all you need. You do have a 6 bolt flywheel and I think the only way to get an 8 bolt is with a forged crank. So what it would take to make your car work with your buddy's tranny I don't know. I would call D&D.

They both went with the T56 really the cream of the crop in transmissions for Mustangs. There are two different gear sets available. The 6060 is available from the GT500 that's what I went with less money and already over kill for the 450rwt of my car. It too is available with slightly different gear ratios I went with a 2010 box. You can use either transmission with a 6 bolt crank you just need the right clutch plate to match the teeth on the input shaft of the transmission which is 26 teeth instead of 10.
