need help with using sct 3000 on 2010 mustang gt

I bought the car used a few weeks ago and i purchased the tuner yesterday. The tuner appears to work fine and is unmarried with 4 unlocks left. It will communicate with the car, but when i try to program the custom tunes into the car it fails to reprogram the car and says the cars ecm couldnt be unlocked. Any ideas?

call SCT?

I am guessing you bought the tuner used? I am not sure of all the technical details, but when I bought my tuner I had to give them the ECU code from my car, so it seems like maybe they are set up for a specific ECU code, so maybe the tuner your bought is not set up for your ECU?

Another thought -- if the car does not have the factory tune, but instead has some aftermarket tune, the tuner might not be able to "unlock" it ; normally the first thing that a new tuner does is download the factory tune from the car ; but if the factory tune is not there, I don't know what it does.

The ECU code/strategy code is specific to the tune itself, not the tuner per-se.
Just wanted to clear that bit up, but aside from that this is not an issue I've encountered personally so I'd recommend following Jbert's advise and contacting SCT.

Couple of other things.. Have you updated your tuner to the latest firmware from SCT? Also is it giving any error codes (e.g. 1027, etc.)
