Question Tuning With Manual Transmission Car

So a question regarding tuning and a manual transmission S197.

Doing a custom tune is a popular modification on 04+ F-150's, with Troyer or Edge being the most common choices. One of the biggest benefits of this tuning is the fact that you can change the factory shift points of the automatic transmission, which tend to be programmed away from what would be ideal for off-the-line performance. Additionally, the 5.4 engine in the F-150 seems to be seriously de-tuned at the factory, meaning there are quite a few additional HP to be unleashed with a good tune.

The question I have is with a manual transmission S197, is tuning still a good "bang-for-the buck" modification?

OHHHHHHHH yeah, in my opinion it is. The first time I drove my car home after gettin the cold air intake, it was like driving a new car all over again.

A new air inlet and tune are, without a doubt, the best first two mods for this car.

Lots of threads and discussion on this topic. C&L, JLT II, and TI are the three most popular among AFM members. I've run the C&L, JLT and the Powerhouse Pipeline. All are very good CAIs.
